A few seasons ago when the season was just beginning a few of my friends where stoked to strap in and drop in on their snowboard here in Whistler. Once a bit of snow started to accumulate in the village Nev, Eddie and Fraiser where searching for rails to slide and conquer.
One of the guys knew about a red rail behind the Telus Conference center that was totally ride able and it wasn’t capped, so once word spread we all met at the spot and began to set up shop. We built a drop in ramp out of a few things we found around the area and started building a jump onto the rail.

As this was all happening I was setting up my flashes to best fill in the area with light. The rails where pretty well surrounded by trees which made it hard for me to get the angles I was hoping for but I set up the flashes and made things work.
After everything was set up the riders gambled on who would be the first gini-pig to hit the rail. And let me tell you the set up wasn’t the easiest thing to hit. The run in for the rail was extremely short but the riders still managed to pull some sick grinds out of their bags of tricks.

Once the session was on its was Eddie, Frasier and Nev all took turns trying to get a feel for the rail. It didn’t take long for Eddie and Frasier to get a few solid grinds under their belt but Nev wasn’t feeling it. He hit the set up once or twice but decided to back out and join the rest of us watching Eddie and Frasier duel it out on the rail.

As the night was growing long the riders where stomping trick after trick just having a good time riding their snowboards. After about an hour of riding the guys where beat and we called it quits.
It was great that we where able to session the rail for an extended period of time without getting kicked out of an area by cops or security. It’s not common but great when it happens.
